Putting our
patients
first

Our commitment to patients.

Your surgeon has chosen a Nexus Hospital because of their commitment to providing the best possible care to their patients.

Surgeons want to work with the very latest technology that is found at a Nexus facility. We also employ the very best hospital staff in the country. It’s this critical mix of quality facilities and expert teams that allows us to back up our commitment to ensuring you have the very best care possible.

We understand that a visit to hospital can be stressful.

Whilst each Nexus Day Hospital is different, what does not change is the standard of care. If you are having a day surgery procedure, you can expect the following:

  1. What to bring with you.
Please bring all the paperwork that your surgeon has given to you and ensure that it is filled out. You will also need to arrange any required payment – be sure to bring your Medicare and Health Fund card. Leave any jewellery and valuables at home and do not wear perfume or aftershave. On the day make sure to wear loose, comfortable clothing.
  2. Sign-in.
Once you have signed in, you will need to wait for a short time before a nurse comes to collect you. If there is any delay, you will be kept well informed.
  3. Preparation.
You will be asked a series of questions and receive an explanation of what will happen. You will then be asked to change into a surgical gown, then taken to a bed. At some stage, you will have a visit from your anaesthetist, who will answer any of your questions.
  4. Transport to and from hospital.
You will need a relative or carer to drive you to and from the hospital on the day of your procedure. No matter how simple your procedure, you will also need someone to stay with you overnight after your procedure.
