Message from the CEO
Expanding the Nexus portfolio of world-class hospitals
The Nexus journey is a story of partnership. We have a strong commitment to partner with our surgeons and staff, to build a national network of world class, boutique hospitals. This model is underpinned by our commitment to provide highly trained hospital and theatre staff focused on a core group of medical specialties, to provide world class clinical outcomes and an exceptional experience for all patients within our care.
Over time we have extended that spirit of partnership to our suppliers, government and private health insurers. Only by working together as a team can we develop new models of care aimed at delivering better patient outcomes in a high quality and sustainable private healthcare system. In short, Nexus aims to drive change in the Australian healthcare system, ensuring excellent private healthcare can continue to be available for all.
I am delighted to announce that Windsor Private Hospital, located in Melbourne’s inner east, is the latest hospital to join us in our mission. On June 1st, Windsor Private became the 13th hospital to join the Nexus group.
This two theatre, eight bed facility has been acquired from Mr Allan Kalus, who is a highly respected plastic and reconstructive surgeon. Mr Kalus recognised the potential of a magnificent Victorian mansion in Windsor, and undertook significant works during 1991 to deliver one of the early day hospital facilities. 25 years later in 2016, after a further expansion and upgrade, Windsor Private now boasts two modern theatres, a fully compliant CSSD and private inpatient rooms.
The elegant boutique style and premium service levels at Windsor Private make it an excellent fit for Nexus. This adds nicely to our portfolio of hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne, joining our Manningham, Vermont and Corymbia facilities.
In late February we introduced ophthalmology to the hospital, supporting the Windsor Private team to implement the world class ophthalmic service for which Nexus has become renowned. We plan to expand our base of ophthalmic, plastics and oral surgeons over the coming months, and will introduce pain procedures early in the new financial year.
I would like to welcome Mr Kalus into the Nexus fold, together with the Windsor Private management, Tracy Cameron (CEO) and Lisa Sharp (DON), along with their committed team. In deciding to partner with Windsor Private Hospital, we recognised Windsor’s leadership in the short stay arena, the staff’s commitment to clinical excellence, and the opportunity to promote this superb facility to surgeons looking for a local, world class service for their patients. It has been a pleasure getting to know this team, and we are very excited to welcome them as part of the Nexus group.
