Farewell Deb Van de Stadt – Director of Nursing, Insight Private Hospital
As we bid farewell to Deb Van de Stadt, we’d like to take a moment to reflect on the history of Insight Private Hospital, and how under Deb’s steady leadership, the hospital has grown to play an important role in servicing the healthcare needs of the Albury-Wodonga and wider community.
Deb joined Insight in 2007, in the early planning stages of what would become Insight Private Hospital as we know it today. In her role as Nurse Unit Manager, Deb was integral to developing the clinical pathways for the new operating theatres, underpinning the high standards to which the hospital performs. Deb’s respectful and cheerful style made her the perfect conduit between the NSW Health Department and the doctors whose dream it was to create a local short stay hospital, purpose built to provide service excellence to patients and surgeons.
In 2011 Deb was promoted to the position of Director of Nursing, a role she has delivered in her typically exemplary and good-humoured fashion. Working closely with her small team she built an operationally robust hospital centred on the patient experience, which ultimately drew the attention of Nexus Hospitals, who acquired the facility in 2014. Insight Private was the second acquisition for Nexus and represented an important step in the creation of a hospital group which now has 16 hospitals in its national portfolio.
Deb has been a friend and mentor to many across the wider Nexus group, with her calming presence and indefatigable professionalism often turning the seemingly difficult into manageable steps. Deb will be greatly missed, but she leaves a strong legacy in the incredible hospital that Insight Private has become.
We wish Deb all the best with the next phase of her life as she moves interstate with her family to warmer climes.
