Farewell Vashti Bubenicek – GM / Director of Nursing Corymbia Day Hospital
Next week we say farewell to Vashti Bubenicek, GM / DON of Corymbia Day Hospital, who is retiring after a distinguished 50-year nursing career.
Since joining Nexus in 2016, Vashti has been instrumental to the growth and development of Corymbia Day Hospital. Under her guidance Corymbia has grown from a high-quality but underutilised facility to a well-respected and busy day surgery, playing an important role in servicing the needs of the local community.
Vashti has been an indomitable hospital leader, and her can-do attitude has been integral both to consolidating a strong hospital team and attracting new doctors – a fitting tribute to her achievements. Vashti has overseen the expansion of services at Corymbia Day Hospital to include ophthalmology and oral surgery, as well as taking on a significant role in servicing public plastic and reconstructive work from the nearby Dandenong Hospital.
Vashti will also be remembered for her commitment to the well-being of her people, and mentoring a dedicated and passionate team, who are ready to take the hospital into the future.
A friend and mentor to many across the wider Nexus group, Vashti has generously given her time and skills to assist others whenever the need has arisen. Her dedication to patient care and teamwork is embedded into the fabric of the Nexus team culture. She will be greatly missed.
We will be poorer for Vashti leaving, but richer for having had the benefit of her wisdom for the last six years. We wish Vashti all the very best with the next phase of her life as she takes the opportunity to spend time with her family and pursue her passion for the great outdoors.
