Pacific Private Hospital Expansion
In partnership with Nexus Hospitals, a $13 million upgrade will see Pacific Private Hospital increase its capacity and patient offerings in 2024. The well-respected facility, located in Southport, Queensland, has built a reputation for providing high quality care to residents of the Gold Coast since 2000, delivering world class surgical services in a boutique setting to support community needs.
With the five existing operating theatres at capacity, Pacific Private is adding further capacity to meet increasing demand from local surgeons wanting to work at the facility.
The multi-million dollar project will contribute two additional 65-square metre operating theatres, as well as eight inpatient beds to accommodate patients requiring an overnight stay. On completion, this will allow Pacific Private to provide much needed capacity to cater for higher acuity specialties and higher acuity patients. This will transition the hospital from a day hospital, to a short-stay private hospital.
This shift will deliver much needed theatre capacity for surgeons in high demand, particularly in specialties including ophthalmology, plastic surgery, gastroenterology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthopaedics, and Mohs surgery. By investing in the community and alleviating pressure on a wide range of medical specialists, the local Gold Coast community will experience enhanced access to, and quality of, services. In addition, the expansion will create over 50 jobs for the local community and is expected to attract clinical talent to the area from interstate and overseas.
This transformation to Pacific Private Hospital is reflective of a broader shift in healthcare delivery. Nexus is committed to innovation and excellence in delivering individually tailored care and support to patients who require short stays for post-surgical recovery. By focusing on methods of care that support enhanced recovery after surgery, patients do not require lengthy post-operative hospitalisation or intensive care. Nexus is paving the way towards a more efficient, responsive, sustainable healthcare system, demonstrating dedication to their purpose of delivering better healthcare models for the benefit of all Australians.
Jane McLennan, General Manager, Director of Nursing said, “At Pacific Private Hospital, we strive to deliver a personalised service to all our patients every day. Safety, clinical excellence, and professionalism are paramount. Healthcare is not about sitting still — so we continually evolve our models to provide patients with the best possible care and the fastest path to a successful recovery that allows them to get on with their lives.”
The project is due to be completed and open for business by February 2024, and Nexus are already taking bookings from a range of surgeons securing theatre time on the Gold Coast.
